Edit moss heights
Can anyone tell me what land the moss heights were built on? was it farmland?or an industrial site.
To my knowledge the land previously occupied by the Mossheights was farmland as was most of the land in Berryknowes Road and the surrounding streets prior to the 1930's
Before the construction of the Paisley Road West the line where Moss Heights is was part of the only road to Paisley, it continued along this line passing "Hillington Park Circus" and beyond to meet with Arkleston Road, this road boundaried the cemetary as does Moss Heights.
Just thought I would add a wee bit more information in here which I found quite interesting. the old road which was used as Paisley Road West before the one we have now was replaced by our current one because the newly invented steam engines didn't have the power to go up the hills unlike the horse and cart.
You guys should all check out the Councils webpages they have interactive maps of now and 1912, instead of all the guesswork Moss Heights is build on the the lands of Cruckston Hall, which is where the new school is, the small lodge house which recently burned down was the gate house to Cruckston Hall. (Cruckston by the way is Crookston. ) Turnberry house is also clearly marked on the maps too.
