9/4/2008Gates for Hillington shops
By Alistair Watson:
The gating of lanes in the Greater Cardonald continue with new gates erected at the lane behind Thurston Road Shops/Hillington,another part of the community action plan for North Cardonald & Hillington in place.
Alistair Watson says: For those resisidents who are concerned about the gates at the Thusston Road Shops being left open at night,The shopkeepers have now all been issued with a key and should lock the gates when trading ceases.
Jacqueline Lochhead says: Well done to Councillor Watson for his excellent support that he gave to his constituents regarding the gates installed in Hillington. The people in East Renfrewshire are still fighting ERC regarding their gates, However the environment minister confirmed last week that the land reform act 2003 should not be an inhibitor and the case continues. Glasgow City council are happy to keep their residents safe and have used their common sense ERC tried to say their hands were tied due to the Land reform act 2003 and have been proved wrong.
